Summer School at Appalachian offers a wide range of courses, programs, workshops, and extra-curricular activities to further your academic goals or to complement your summer activities. These offerings include:
On-Campus Courses
On-campus courses, offered through the Office of the Registrar, include all the summer courses for credit available to current degree and non-degree seeking students.

Early Registration for All Terms of Summer Sessions, 2013
Students enrolled during the Spring Semester, 2013, will be invited to early register April 3 - April 16. Schedule adjustment will be April 19 - 22. Registration will be unavailable May 14 - 15, 2013 to process cancellation for non-payments for Summer 1 2013. Enrolled students will be notified of the specific date on which they will have initial access to the University’s WEB REGISTRATION SYSTEM (WRS).
Visiting and Returning students wishing to register during the early registration period may do so April 16, 1:00 p.m. ONLY if the complete application materials have been submitted. This early registration cannot be guaranteed. The last day to prepay for the first half of Summer School is May 10, 2013. The lasy day to prepay for the second half of Summer School is June 25, 2013. If payment is not received by these dates, the early registration will be cancelled.
Registration opens again on May 16, 2013. Visiting and Returning students are encouraged to submit their entire application packet as soon as possible to ensure processing will be complete in time for open registration.
Appalachian Overseas Education Programs
Appalachian Overseas Education Programs are faculty-led study abroad programs in which students can earn college credit while studying abroad. With the exception of some language programs, courses are taught in English by Appalachian professors. Unless otherwise indicated, international airfare, insurance, and housing are included in all programs. For more information, contact International Education and Development at 828.262.2046.
Conference and Camp Services Programs and Workshops
Conference and Camp Services Programs and Workshops include a variety of non-credit, continuing education programs for individuals of all ages. For more information, contact the Office of Conference and Camp Services at 828.262.3045.
Off-campus (Distance Education) Courses
Off-campus (Distance Education) Courses include undergraduate, graduate, and teacher licensure programs for North Carolina residents at sites away from our main campus. For more information, please contact the Office of Distance Education at 828.262.3113.
